When Pavel Pogrebnyak signed for Reading at the start of July, everyone saw this as a massive coup for the club. The 6 foot 3 Russian giant, experienced premier league football for the first time in January when joining Fulham on loan, scoring 6 goals in 12 appearances. Fulham were desperate to capture his signature, however with Reading's new Russian billionaire the contract was too good to turn down and he decided to join us. He joined our pre season tour late due to the Euro 2012 commitments and fit in like butter in a sandwich. In the 2 games he played in Portugal he did not score, however did show his signs of quality. Many Reading fans are tipping him to keep us in the premier league, with him no doubt being our number 1 striker, as well as many other football fans around the country seeing it as a huge coup for the premier league new boys.
So can he produce the goods for us this season? it remains to be seen. However a lot of pressure is on his shoulders this season, so lets all hope he lives up to the expectation.
