The SPL has a wealth of young British and Irish talent with the odd European and Asian in the mix, below are 10 of the best for this year.
Nigel Hasselbank (St Johnstone) - Hasselbank is the Nephew of Legendry Chelsea forward Jimmy Floyd, so has a strong through breed of attacking play. Although last season at St Mirren he was less than prolific, he is such as presence I rate him to bag 10+ goals and really really trouble opponents in a very open SPL this season.

Niall Mcginn (Aberdeen) – This Young lad was on Celtics books for years but was released at the end of last season after a yearlong loan at Brentford in England. He has alot to prove and made a good start in the first game of the new campaign against his previous employers Celtic.
Fraser Forster (Celtic) – After 2 good seasons on loan from English Premier League side Newcastle United, Fraser is a new signing at Celtic and is easily the best keeper in the SPL this year, his height and dynamic approach makes him a fantastic GK and he will be keen to show to Neil Lennon that he is worth the permanent deal that he received.
Paddy McCourt (Celtic) - Been with The Hoops since 08 but has been slightly out of favour in the starting line-up due to the outstanding ability of players like Forrest, Samaras and Stokes. I can see him being a big part of the way Celtic go to defend the title.
Gary Mackay-Smith (Dundee United) – Quality young lad 12/13 season could well be the spring board to get him a big contract at an EPL team. He has already shown himself to be a permant fixture in Craig Levein’s Scotland squad.
Kevin McBride (Dundee FC) – Kevin is a journeyman of Scottish football and has so much experience that he is bound to help keep newly promoted Dundee in the SPL.
Pa Kujabi (Hibs) – 25 year old Gambian played a dozen games last season at his first British club and he played really solid in the games I saw, if Pat Fenlon gives him a chance he will always give 110%.
Paul Heffernan (Kilmarnock) – Paul’s been around for a few years and is a massive part of how Killie plays at Rugby Park
Liam Kelly (Kilmarnock) – Solid Paul Scholes style player and always gives everything, he sadly lost his father at Hampden Park moments after winning the League cup so he goes into this year with a real passion to make his Father proud.
