REPORT: Torquay United 0-4 Leicester City

A brilliant start to season for Nigels men after smashing four past Torquay in the first round of the Capital One Cup. Goals from Lloyd Dyer and Ben Marshall in the first half and Strikes from new boys Matty James And Jamie Vardy capped off a perfect display ahead of the season. They were sure backed by the bluearmy faithfull. 1,116 citys fans made the trip down south to see a fine performance.

It was sure an easy ride for Leicester but to come down from the midlands down to devon in a four hour trip showed there quality. Coming up against a League 2 side who could have ambition for promotion but the foxes were to good for Torquay. It showed Leicesters proffesionalism and energy. It seriously showed why Leicester have been named favourites to hit the big time.

Leicester created a lot of chances but the deadlock was broke in the 21st minute by the pace of Dyer just beating his defender to the ball going round the keeper and slotting in home. When Leicester was awarded a free kick we all knew who was going to step up. Ben Marshall. Take a bow son! A quality free kick into the near post hit the top corner with left the keeper to pick the ball out of the net. Five minutes into the 2nd half and The Championship side added to the 2-0 scoreline by debutant Matty James breaking through midflied. A wonderful ball through by Beckford seen James score his first goal for city. The last goal came on the 77th mintue by the quickness of Jamie Vardy to get in before keeper Poke and nodded the ball in the net and left the keeper stranded.

A seriously good performance from Leicester and this will give them big confidence going into the Championship opener agaist Peterborough on Saturday. UP THE CITY!!!
